Ship and marine cables are designed for a wide range of applications on board ships.
They are used for power supply, data transmission, instrumentation and control. They are resistant to salt water, humidity, and
temperature fluctuations. Halogen-free and flame-retardant materials prevent toxic gases in case of fire and slow down the spread of flames.
These cables guarantee easy installation in confined spaces thanks to their high flexibility, as well as mechanical stability against abrasion,
vibrations and shocks.

The naval and marine cables are approved and certified by the German Armed Forces (BAAINBw) and meet the highest standards
expected of naval and marine cables worldwide. They are subjected to strict and frequent quality controls to ensure flawless and long-lasting performance.
These cables are extremely resistant to mechanical stress, abrasion,
vibration and shock, which are common on ships and in military
environments. Halogen-free and flame-retardant materials are
particularly important to ensure safety on board.
Resistance to salt water, humidity, UV radiation and extreme
temperature fluctuations are other properties of VG cables, in
addition to their excellent EMC compatibility.

Offshore cables must be extremely robust and resistant, as they are
often laid under water and must ensure a stable connection between offshore installations and the mainland over long distances.
These cables are designed to withstand the extreme pressure and harsh environmental conditions of the deep sea, and play a crucial role in maritime infrastructures.
Applications include offshore wind farms, oil and gas platforms,
converter platforms, the connection of global communication
networks and underwater power transmission.
SHORE POWER
Fresh brise and clean ports
Port authorities are increasingly restricting the operation of ship
engines and generators. These regulations are driving the demand for shore-side power solutions. Ship-to-shore cables respond to this
demand and contribute to environmentally friendly ports.
In the so-called ‘cold ironing’ process, ships switch off their engines or generators for power generation while in port and rely on shore power instead. The power supply switches seamlessly from onboard to shore without affecting the ship's services. This innovation is a
milestone for cleaner air in and around port areas.
Our goal at böhm Cable is to provide access to clean energy in ports all over the world. With our range of low and medium voltage cables, we support environmentally friendly solutions for the ports of the future.
